Jeans for Genes Day celebrated on campus
Jeans for Genes Day is an annual event held on the 5th of October and raises money for Genetic Disorders UK, aiming to change the world for children with genetic disorders.
Genetic disorders tend to be rare, and affect one in 25 children, but this still leads to around 30,000 babies each year born with a disorder. Their additional health problems mean that genetic disorders are the biggest killer of children under the ages of 14.
The day provides funding for care and support of children with the disorders, through Genetic Disorders UK’s grant programme.
Here at the University of Liverpool, faculty members jumped straight in for the cause. LGoS hopes to raise more for other charities across the year.
