A Pair of Blue Eyes – preview

A Pair of Blue Eyes is a play about a beautiful, blue-eyed country girl, Elfride Swancourt. She has lived a life of seclusion until the arrival of two strangers, who shatter the peace and tranquillity forever.

The story centres around a love triangle that develops around impulsive Elfride and her two suitors. Fighting for her love are the handsome Stephen Smith and the older, sophisticated Mr. Knight.

This dramatisation is a rare chance to witness one of Hardy’s most perceptive and emotionally charged works on stage. The novel was based closely on his own affair with Emma Gifford.

You can watch A Pair of Blue Eyes on Saturday 10 November, with the performance starting at 7.45pm. All tickets are £5, and can be purchased here.
