A Christmas Carol – preview

Liverpool based Spike Theatre are returning to The Lantern Theatre with their Christmas production of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.

Christmas is looming in Victorian Britain, but Scrooge, London’s most notorious miser is not getting into the spirit. He is a man so mean, he begrudges giving him only staff member, Bob Cratchit a day off, despite it being Christmas.

On Christmas Eve, all is about to change when he receives a visit from Jacob Marley, his ex-business partner, who is as ‘dead as a doornail’. Marley’s ghost comes with a warning, telling Scrooge he should expect three visits of three Christmas Spirits.

Scrooge’s past, present and future come to haunt him, but will this change a man so set in his miserable ways?

Spike Theatre bring Dickensian London vividly to life in an atmospheric adaptation, featuring a fusion of original music, puppetry, shadow play and their trademark bold storytelling. Audiences should expect plenty of laughs and scares.

A Christmas Carol is recommended for audiences ages 12 + and will be showing in The Lantern Theatre from 1-10 December. Performances start at 7.30pm, except on Sundays when they will start at 5pm. All tickets are £10 and can be purchased here.
