Welcome Week day 2!

After a packed Detention at LGoS last night, day two of Welcome Week is here!

Give it a Go kicks off today with events from lots of societies and campus orientations for those getting to know their new city.

The Re-Cycles Cycle Bus set off at 8.25am from Carnatic and will cycle onto campus each day at this time – perfect for getting to those morning lectures.

Re-Cycles, a student volunteering project which fixes bikes, organises group rides and shares bike skills with the wider community, are also running a taster session for those looking to gain some mechanic skills at 2pm. Meet at the LGoS reception to head down to the basement.

From 10 to 12, turn up at the LGoS Library for Video Game Development for Newbies with CompSoc.

Ever wondered if you could be the next Nick Grimshaw or Edith Bowman? LSRadio will show you their studio and give you chance to have a go behind the scenes. Meet them at LGoS reception at 11am.

If you’re looking to get into debating this term, or just hoping to improve your public speaking confidence, the Debating Society will be kicking off their activities at 2pm in the LGoS Library.

Join the Chinese Society for a taste of Chinese culture, language and even a game of Chinese chess in the International Lounge, LGoS at 3pm.

The Animal Conservation Society will give a presentation on their coming year at 3.30pm in the McAusland Lounge at LGoS.

Meet at LGoS reception from 7pm to have a go with the Potholing Society, who will take you through some rope climbing techniques and equipment.

Drama Society will complete the evening with an Improvisation Workshop in the Harold Wilson Room at LGoS from 7pm. This will be unpredictable but lots of fun, bring your new housemates along to get to know them better!

The Big Guild Quiz will kick off from 8pm – it’s £1 to enter and you might win a brilliant £250!

For those of you looking for a night out, the Welcome Week wristband will get you into Dirty Antics at Bumper (£4 on the door) and Vodkiss at Revolution (£5 on the door).

What are you heading along to today? What have you enjoyed most so far? Let us know in the comments!
