The AW12/13 Beauty guide
Autumn is well and truly here, and a change in season doesn’t stop with the wardrobe. We’ve picked out the hottest beauty trends to keep you up to date this season, adapted for campus life and a student budget. Here it is: The LSMedia guide to AW12/13 beauty!
Barely there make-up is big this autumn: Nude lips and eyes paired with creamy skin makes for a great day time look, perfect for casual days in uni. Use a loose powder to set foundation and give a flawless matte finish – Natural Collection do a great one for just £1.99. This look is all about natural glow, so brighten eyes with 17 Solo Eyeshadow in Funfair, £3.89. Finish with a slick of nude gloss or even Vaseline, perfect for adding shine and protecting lips from autumn weather!
For nails, look no further than Rimmel’s new fall collection in the Lycra Pro range – The Beige Babe shade is a favourite.
It’s an autumn no-brainer: Bushy bold eyebrows are in. This time we’re seeing less structure and paler colours – think warm, golden browns. Use a brow powder rather than a pencil to get a softer look – With FashionistA Brow Kit, £7.00 at Superdrug, you can build depth gradually to get the perfect tone and finish.
Avant garde liner was all over the AW 12/13 catwalks, so get creative if you dare! Sharp, angular shapes framed eyes; think geometry meets your make-up kit and you’ve got it. It’s a hard one to get right, so tone down the look for campus by drawing small triangles on the outer corners of your eyes. More is more with this trend; a bolder take on the classic feline flick also can’t go far wrong.
Take it into night time… With dramatic gold eye shadow. Brush Barry M Dazzle Dust in 96 Gold, £4.50, all over lids before getting arty with a liquid liner. Bourjois Liner Feutre, £6.99, is one of the best liquid liners you can buy under £10.
Think healthy, cold weather flush. Sweep Natural Collection Blushed Cheeks in Rosey Glow, £1.99, over the apples of your cheeks for a healthy autumn colour. Pair with Rimmel 1000 Kisses Lip Tint in Carry On Cherry, £5.99, for ‘just bitten’ lips. Again, this trend is all about looking natural, so keep skin creamy and pale.
Wine and berry toned lips are a big part of this season’s baroque style. Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish lipstick in 004, £5.49, and Revlon Super Lustrous lipstick in Rich Raisin Frost, £7.49, are two of our favourites. See our guide on this tricky trend to ensure you get it right!
