Journey’s Neal Schon To Release New Studio Album.

Neal Schon, the lead guitarist from the American rock band Journey, has put the finishing touches on his latest solo album, The Calling. Released by Frontier Records in the U.K. on Monday 22nd October and has been produced by Schon who also plays the Journey man on all guitars and bass. The Calling reunites Neal Schon with former band mate, Steve Smith who lends his virtuoso drum talents to all 12 tracks on the new album.

Grammy Award-winning special guest Jan Hammer (Miami Vice Soundtrack) recorded Moog Synthesiser solos on two of the tracks and Igor Len, an accomplished classical, jazz and film composer who had previously collaborated with Schon, is featured on acoustic piano throughout the album.

The album itself was recorded in between the busy schedule that Neal Schon enjoys. In a break from Journey’s touring timetable the record took just an astonishing four days to make from start to finish.

Neal Schon has long been one considered one of the great guitarists of his generation, responsible for some of the classic tracks of the last thirty odd years. He has worked with the likes of Bette Davis, Sammy Hagar, Michael Bolton and Santana.

This will be Neal Schon’s seventh solo album and in the 23 years since his debut offering Late Nite, Neal has consistently delivered music of a very high quality.
