Royal Ascot, Thursday: German First At Ascot

Energizer has supplied Germany with a Royal Ascot winner and an easy one at that. He flew home down the outside to score by over two lengths for Jens Hirschberger. The step up in trip worked wonders for the colt, who finished fourth in the German Guineas behind smart British raider Caspar Netscher last time.

Energizer: First ever Royal Ascot winner for Germany

The fancied Wrotham Heath set the pace but faded badly and it was the second string of Sir Henry Cecil’s, Stipulate, who finished second. Rewarded ran well to finish third for Kirsty Milczarek. It hasn’t been a great meeting for Richard Hannon and Richard Hughes and that bad run continued – their Crius was tailed off.

Energizer was Germany’s first ever winner at the Royal Meeting, continuing and increasing the International feel to this spectacular event.
