Waterstones Celebrates World Book Night. April 23rd 2012.
Local author Maureen Lee will be reading an exclusive snippet from her new book, After the War is Over, due to be released next month. She will also be signing books.
There will also be poetry readings to entertain guests, from poets around Liverpool, including the University of Liverpool’s School of English’s Dr. Deryn Rees Jones and Dr. John Redmond.
In addition, local horror fiction is also being showcased, featuring international horror legend Ramsey Campbell, who has written books such as The Bride of Frankenstein and Dracula’s Daughter, and debut novelist Alison Littlewood, author of A Cold Season, released earlier on this year.
There will also be chances to win book-related prizes, with a Literary Quiz and raffle taking place. The proceeds of this will go to the Rainbow Trust Charity, which provides support for children with life threatening illnesses and their families.
The event is free, and kicks off at 5pm at Waterstones, Liverpool One.
World Book Night is celebrated on April 23rd across the UK, Ireland, Germany and the USA, seeing tens of thousands of people give books to spread the joy of reading within their communities.
